FALL

HALLOWEEN IS COMING
HERE ARE SOME SAFETY
TIPS FOR KIDS AND ADULTS
KIDS:
1. Try to Trick-or-Treat when it is still light
outside
2. Wear a costume that makes it easier to walk, see
and be seen
3. If you must go at night, make sure your costume is
light in color
4. Carry a flashlight with you so you can be seen easily
5. Use retro-reflective tape on your costume to be seen
easily
6. Use makeup instead on a mask
7. If someone older cannot go with you, Trick-or-Treat
with a group
8. Cross the street only at corners. Never cross between
parked vehicles or mid-block
9. Tell your family on which streets you will be
Trick-or-Treating
10. If there are no sidewalks, always walk facing traffic
ADULTS:
1. Welcome Trick-or-Treaters at home by turning on
your
exterior lights
2. Remove objects from your yard that might present a
hazard to visitors
3. Ask your neighborhood watch or citizens group to patrol
the community
4. Involve students from a local college or university to be
"Witch Helpers" These students can
help
Trick-or-Treaters cross busy streets
and watch out for
ghoulish behavior
5. Drive slowly all evening - you never know what creatures
may suddenly cross your path
6. Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your local
police department
Consider this:
Parents and kids can avoid Trick-or-Treating problems
entirely by organizing a Halloween costume party with
treats, games, contests, music, scary stories, and
much more.
